WINTER IN THE COUNTRYSIDE
- SIX LOOKS
It’s been just a tad chilly outside recently, and staying warm has been on everyone’s mind. This week we are looking at a few ways to look wonderful this winter whilst still turning heads. We’ve put together three looks for him, inspired by some of our most popular country patterns – stags, pheasants, black labs, and more. We’re also looking at three ways to stay classy but warm with three winter looks for her.

Our first look is styled with all the black lab-lovers in mind. These dogs are friendly, outgoing, and high-spirited companions who have more than enough affection to go around.
The black in these patterns pops nicely against a lighter shirt, and black blazer or coat, like this fabulously warm Barbour Chelsea Sportsquilt Jacket.
Shown here is our Labrador Lemon silk tie and the Black Labs silk tie

Women’s Barbour outerwear is also wonderful. Here we have some lovely country silk for the ladies as well. Which do you prefer? First we’ve paired our Morris Dovedale Scarf - a floral print in shades of burnt orange with navy detail, inspired by the Dovedale valley in the Peak District.
Secondly we have the Art Nouveau Owl crepe de chine silk scarf featuring a owls hidden among golden leaves derived from The Owl c1895 by John Henry Dearle.
Both work beautifully with this country look, which includes Barbour’s Mickley long quilted coat, and acorn leather and suede knee boots.

Oh how very country! This Rodd & Gunn check shirt is so full of colour, it’s not hard to match any of these ties.
One shirt, three looks. Here we have our stag tie in green and navy as well as the Standing Pheasant Claret tie
If it’s cold out and let’s face it, it most likely will be, slip a jumper overtop. This cable knit grey one from Superdry is lovely, and neutral enough to pair with a plethora of other shirt and tie combinations.

Going out? This year, it’s all about the little blue dress, like this Ted Baker asymmetrical dress in dark blue.
The problem with a LBD (little blue dress in this case), is that the weather isn’t always cooperative, making it tricky to find something to compliment it without creating a more casual look.
Our Poshminas™ are glossy satin silk design on one side with the warmth of a brushed silk lining that feels like cashmere on the other, it’s a genius and gorgeous way to stay warm when it’s just too nippy out.
This particular one is our Morris Hammersmith poshmina ™ and its full of bright blues.

Our last look for the men is full of patterns. It clashes but works! We’re bringing back the woven stag tie, in yet another colour - plum, and pairing it with this Crew Clothing multi gingham shirt.
If you’d like to forgo the tie, you could pop a pocket square into the jacket. We love this particular stag pocket square peaking out of this John Lewis wool and cotton blend blazer.
It’s hard to choose between pheasants and stags and all of the country animals, so for another variation that includes them all, check out our woven Country Animals tie

This look involves some lovely layering, it’s wonderful how such a small accessory like a silk scarf can compliment and change a look so dramatically.
We are big fans of a capsule-style wardrobe, and here we can see how simply swapping a scarf can create a whole other look. With this cosy flared sleeve knit jumper, we’ve layered this Sosander wool blend coat in camel colour.
There are so many scarves that could work with these pieces, but as part of country theme, we’ve chosen Morris Wandle where royalties support the V&A and the Wilton Diptych scarf which features rich golds and blacks and a distinctive white hart painting from the rear of the famous altar piece of the same name.
